V-Day

Our Valentine's weekend would go right along with this poem, some holidays rock...others don't. Add one sick/really cranky 4 year old plus one getting-over-being-sick/slightly cranky 10 month old and it does not equal a relaxing/romantic weekend for two parents! Oh well, I think Matt and I have both come to accept that when kids are involved, things never go as planned.

We've decided that for Valentine's Day we don't need to go out and buy gifts for each other (and forget going to a restaurant, the wait is usually at least an hour!) so we officially started a tradition this year. A nice candle light dinner at home (after the kids are in bed), followed by a delicious dessert (or, since we're counting the whole weekend this year, two delicious desserts!), and love gifts (doing something for the other person instead of just running to the store and picking up a box of chocolates and calling it good....nothing against the box of chocolates!).

So, despite the setbacks, Matt and I have really enjoyed our weekend and it was fun to think of nice things to do for Matt (and even nicer that his gift to me yesterday was taking care of the kids all day long!).
