Saying Goodbye

Well, after two very short weeks it was time for Rachael and Bryce to go home. We had to drive them back up to the ferry in Ludington so we left early so we could go swimming in Lake Michigan before they left.On the way up there, we stopped by to take a peek at a Boy Scout camp that we lived at for a summer. It was kind of crazy seeing everything again. We wanted to stop and look around a little more but there was something going on (we're not sure what it was) so we didn't stop.We drove on up to Ludington and just parked on the side of the road, climbed over some sand dunes, and found a beautiful, private spot on the beach to go swimming! We were close enough to people that we weren't totally secluded but far enough away that it felt like we were the only ones there! The waves were pretty crazy so the kids just hung out in the sand. Bryce came in for a little bit and he was fine as long as the big waves didn't splash him. I brought him out a little deeper and we were jumping over the waves as they were coming towards us which he thought was a lot of fun...until this massive wave came at us and went over my head even though I jumped up! Bryce didn't go under but his face got splashed so he was done with that game!
After swimming we got dressed and went to get ice cream and walk out to see the lighthouse. We didn't make it all the way out to the lighthouse but we did get to see the ferry coming in to dock. We had so much fun with Rachael and Bryce and it was really hard to say goodbye. It made me especially sad the next morning when Cadance started wandering around the house looking for them. She got really close to Rachael while she was here. When I told her they went "Bye-bye" she ran to the window to look in the car to see if they were just sitting out there. :( Anyway, before I start crying again, Rachael, I'm so glad you came over!!!
