Granddaddy C Rides To Town

Our dad came to visit while Rachael was here. Not only did we have a good time watching The Office, going to see our aunt and uncle, and letting the kids pretend to ride the motorcycle, he also saved the day when our air conditioner went out. I have to say, I didn't handle it very well. It went out on one of the hottest days we've had all summer (probably about 95 degrees). He called around and found someone to come out and look at it only a few hours after getting here and, after finding out that it was a pretty pricey problem, went out and bought us a window unit to get us by until we could get ours repaired/replaced. It was so hot that sweat was literally dripping off of all our faces while we were trying to get it put together and installed.The kids thought it was awesome to sit on Grandpa's motorcycle! Cadance was a little upset when it wasn't her turn to sit in front.We also went out to see our Uncle Marv and Aunt Tricia. The kids had a great time playing in their huge finished basement, and then they wanted to go outside. They pulled out the frisbee and most of us joined in! I had fun playing frisbee until Rachael threw it and it hit me right between the eyes! She has a history of doing that...Bryce was a little upset at first because Bauer kept throwing it to Uncle Marvin. Then when Bryce kind of figured out how to throw it everything was fine again.Then, Marv got the four-wheeler out! Those kids were so excited! Cadance, who's usually hesitant around people, was more nervous about sitting with Uncle Marvin than about riding the four-wheeler! They'd go around the yard and come back to the porch where we were sitting and she'd hop off and come give me a hug and then, when she realized the boys were going back out, would run back and reach to be picked up again!Uncle Marvin likes to play tricks so he kept pretending that the quad was stalling next to the sprinkler. I don't think the kids thought it was as funny as he did...Couldn't resist, she's such a pretty girl!And, is anyone surprised that Bauer was able to sniff out a telescope?? Another funny story: when it started getting dark the lightning bugs started coming out. Bauer really wanted to catch one so I was showing him how to cup his hands and then gently put them together so that he could catch a bug between his hands. Well, he only tried once. We found a lightning bug, got really close, he cupped his hands like I showed him and then...CRACK! He slapped his hands together to make sure that he caught it. Well, he caught it...poor bug.
Probably should have taken the picture earlier in the evening before the sun was completely down!
